Invisible Cities

— 14.06.2021 - New York - Brooklyn —

One of my dear friends asked me to go to Three Lives & Co book store, at 238 W 10th S to pick up a book he has chosen for me as a surprise! And that was how I started to read Invisible Cities written by Italo Calvino. One of the twentieth century’s greatest storytellers.

The balance between poetry and prose in this book immediately took my attention. Cities and memory, cities and desire, cities and designs, hidden cities, dream cities and how these places are more than they appear! I decided to call my new visual art series “Invisible Cities” inspired by the landscapes, architecture and the cities I imagined once reading this book!

“Cities, like dreams, are made of desires and fears, even if the thread of their discourse is secret, their rules are absurd, their perspectives deceitful, and everything conceals something else.”
